Registration for the Music con Brio Summer 2019 Program is now open. Register early for best availability.

Program offerings - There are four choices to register for the Music con Brio summer program:
The 4-week regular summer session, week of Monday, July 8 through Thursday, August 1 at Emerson Elementary (includes four 30-minute partner lessons and four 60-minute group classes; students may also sign up for optional supplemental classes, including the Fiddle Intensive, for an additional fee; open to current Music con Brio students only)
The 4-day Fiddle Intensive, Monday, July 29 through Thursday, August 1 at Emerson Elementary (beginner session includes four 30-minute group classes; continuing session includes four 45-minute group classes; open to any qualified student)
Supplemental classes only, week of Monday, July 8 through Thursday, August 1 at Emerson Elementary between 12:30 and 4:30 pm (Each class is an individual fee, and each class includes includes four 30-minute OR 45-minute group classes; students may also sign up for the Fiddle Intensive, for an additional fee; open to any qualified student)
Individual or partner lessons (no group classes) may be offered at the Goodman Center (open to current Music con Brio students only)
Regular summer programming is only open to current Music con Brio students. However, we are also offering all of the supplemental classes, including the Fiddle Intensive, to Music con Brio alumni or other qualified students. Tuition: $125 per student for 4-week regular program (4 weekly 30-minute partner lessons and 60-minute group classes). $95 per student for 3-week shortened program (3 weekly 30-minute partner lessons and 60-minute group classes). Graduated rates are available.
Additional $50 per class for supplemental classes
Additional $70 fee for solo lessons instead of partner lessons
Supplemental class options (Current Music con Brio students, Music con Brio alumni, and other qualified students):
A variety of supplemental classes will be offered this summer. Please check the eligibility requirements and descriptions before signing up. If you have any questions about your child’s eligibility for supplemental classes, please email or call 309-838-8807.
Chamber Music with Ms. Carol (4 sessions in 4 weeks):
Ms. Carol (violin) will coach individual chamber ensembles of violin duets, string trios or quartets, piano four-hands, or just about any other instrumental grouping you might want to explore! Students must register in pre-formed groups, and the coachings will be scheduled to accommodate everyone's schedule.
Both current Music con Brio students and non-Music con Brio students may sign up for Chamber Music. Middle and high school students who have formed their own ensembles at school are strongly encouraged to sign up with their existing ensemble!
Recommended for students entering 6th grade or older Fall 2019 who have been in Music con Brio for a minimum of 3 years, or students not currently in Music con Brio who have completed at least three years of study
Orchestra Preparation with Ms. Carol (4 sessions in 4 weeks):
This class will focus on the skills necessary to successfully play in orchestras, whether it is middle school and high school orchestras or youth orchestras like WYSO. Ms. Carol will focus on sight-reading, rhythm, key signatures, fingerings and hand-frames, and more to help our young musicians learn to prepare for some of the most exciting and rewarding musical experiences of their lives! Whether your child already participates in orchestra or is getting ready to begin next fall, this class will provide excellent information and guidance through the process and prepare your student for confidence and success in auditions and performance.
Recommended for students entering 6th grade or older Fall 2019
DIY Instruments with Matt Wilber (4 sessions in 4 weeks): Beginning and Continuing Sessions offered
In this fun, hand’s-on class, students will learn about the science of sound through guided experimentation. First, we’ll look at the way our own instruments make sound and compare that to other instruments. Then we will have a chance to build our own instruments and even write music for our inventions! The last week of class will feature a performance, where everyone will demonstrate and explain their own custom-made instruments and perform their compositions.
Beginning session open to all students; Continuing session open to students who have previously completed a DIY Instruments session.
Fiddle Intensive with Ms. Rin (4 sessions in 4 days):
In addition to our regular program offerings, Ms. Rin will be offering a Fiddle Intensive at Emerson. The focus of the Fiddle Intensive will be preparing students for a special performance with Lula Wiles. at the Sugar Maple Music Festival on August 3, 2019.
The Beginning Fiddle session (four 30 minute sessions on July 29, 30,31 and August 1) is for violin students who have completed at least two years of Music con Brio or other violin lessons. The Continuing Fiddle session (four 45 minute sessions on July 29, 30, 31 and August 1 is for students with at least one year of previous fiddle instruction, or by consent of the instructor. Both current Music con Brio students and non-Music con Brio students may sign up for the Fiddle Intensive.
