Violin and Keyboard Instructors for Fall 2019
Music con Brio is a non-profit organization fostering the development and enjoyment of performing instrumental music for youth, starting children ages 6-8 and continuing up to age 18. Partner and group classes are held after school and during the summer on Madison’s east side, with concerts taking place at various venues in the city.
Purpose and Primary Focus of the Music Instructor Position: To enthusiastically support the mission of Music con Brio, by offering high quality instrumental lessons (violin, cello, keyboard) to a diverse mix of Madison-area students, with the goal of forming an inclusive and supportive community that builds students’ self-esteem and pride in their talents, as well as enthusiasm for making music.
Employment Status: Part-Time, Hourly (schedule varies per instrument and enrollment)
(4-10 hours per week per 15-week semester, plus 3-4 week summer programming).
Work Schedule: Two to three afternoons during the school year, specific hours dependent on scheduled classes. Summer programming varies dependent on registration.
Position Begins: September 2019, for the 2019-20 academic year.
Compensation: $20 per hour starting rate, reviewed annually.
Accomplished musician and performer.
Passion for sharing music with various competency levels and ethnic diversity of students.
College degree, preferably in education and/or music performance.
Previous music teaching experience, both single and group lessons.
Knowledge of and appreciation for diverse music styles.
Knowledge of music pedagogy and use of creative teaching.
Willingness to adopt new teaching methods and styles.
Knowledge of the Spanish or Hmong language a plus.
