Sahada Buckley is a violinist from Fairhope, Alabama. Sahada has collaborated with musicians such as Lina Bahn, Yvonne Lam, The Pro Arte Quartet, Rufus Reid, and Helen Sung. She has worked with acclaimed composers such as David Ludwig, Michael Ippolito, Mason Bates, George Meyer, and Will Healy. Sahada has earned a master’s in violin performance from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in violin performance and bachelor’s degrees from the University of Georgia in violin performance and music theory. At UW-Madison, Sahada was a member of the graduate string quartet, the Marvin Rabin String Quartet. She won first place in the University of Georgia Concerto Competition in 2018. She has studied at institutions such as Interlochen Arts Academy, Meadowmount School of Music, BUTI Tanglewood, Green Mountain Music Festival, Montecito Music Festival, Atlantic Music Festival, and Decoda Chamber Music Festival. Her primary teachers have been Levon Ambartsumian, Shakhida Azimkhodjaeva, Paul Sonner, and Michael Heald. She is an active performer with musicians within the free improvisation community. In April of 2022, she performed with her experimental duo, Girls With Hands, at the New York City Electroacoustic Improvisation Summit. An avid hiker, she through-hiked the Appalachian Trail in 2019 with a violin in her backpack. Sahada is a co-founder and Co-Artistic Director of The Eastern Shore Chamber Music Festival which premiered its first season of concerts over the first two weekends of June 2023.
